    Work RVU calculator

This RVU calculator multiplies a work RVU by the work GPCI and a CY 2026 Medicare conversion factor, with an optional total using PE and malpractice RVUs.

    How this RVU calculator works

Work-only estimate = Work RVU × Work GPCI × CF. If you enter PE and MP RVUs, total = ((Work RVU × Work GPCI) + (PE RVU × PE GPCI) + (MP RVU × MP GPCI)) × CF. Defaults are the CY 2026 PFS conversion factors: $33.4009 non-QP and $33.5675 QP. Browse the free tools hub for more.

    Arithmetic only

This is arithmetic from numbers you enter. It is not the CMS Physician Fee Schedule, not a payment determination, and it ignores modifiers, locality beyond the GPCI you typed, sequestration, and the 2026 efficiency adjustment to some work RVUs. Defaults are CY 2026 PFS conversion factors: $33.4009 non-QP and $33.5675 QP.

    Calculate

Optional: total payment (PE and malpractice)

Enter a work RVU of 0 or more to see the estimate.

    FAQ

    What is a work RVU?
A work relative value unit (work RVU) measures the physician time, skill, and intensity behind a service under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. It is one of three RVU components, alongside practice expense (PE) and malpractice (MP).
    What does the GPCI do?
The Geographic Practice Cost Index (GPCI) adjusts each RVU component for local cost differences. Each locality has a separate work, PE, and MP GPCI; multiplying an RVU by its GPCI gives the geographically adjusted RVU.
Why are there two conversion factors in 2026?
Starting in CY 2026, Medicare uses separate conversion factors: $33.5675 for qualifying APM participants (QPs) and $33.4009 for everyone else (non-QP). Pick the one that applies to the billing clinician.
